Apple Unveils New Technologies for App Development

Apple Unveils new Development

Introduction

Technology is at the very heart of human progress and development and it accounts for much of the economic and social progress of the past few centuries. In this series, in 1984, by introducing Macintosh, Apple revolutionized the so-called passive pattern of personal technology. From then on, a continuous and expeditious transformation in technology has shaped our pattern of communication, work, and lives. In the last years, we have witnessed an exponential investment from major enterprises in mobile app development solutions with the possibilities of dominating the world.

With 27.5 billion mobile applications downloaded by 2 billion smartphones users, growth of mobile development rocketed with incredible compatibility and innovation. So In today’s competitive world, it becomes mandatory for every progressive enterprise to get integrated with development in modern technology with potential vision. Here, at McEnery Convention Center, San Jose, California, is Apple prominent summer event, WWDC, Apple introduced significant and innovative new technologies for app developers to develop app dramatically easier, faster and efficiently.

SwiftUI

The fundamental vision behind Swift™ has been faster, simple and more interactive app development by a modern UI framework. SwiftUI offers an extremely intuitive and potential new UI framework to build complex app user interfaces by using easy to understand and simple declarative code. It saves the time of the app developers by providing numerous automatic functions including accessibility, right-to-left language, Dark Mode, interface layout, internationalization, and support. Apple developers can develop rich iOS app easily and more quickly using SwiftUI because of its similar API built into iPadOS ™, iOS, macOS®, tvOS™, and watchOS®.

Xcode 11

Xcode® 11, encompasses a new graphical user interface design tool so that UI designers can assemble a UI with SwiftUI quickly with no need of writing any code. Visual design tool instantaneously shows any change done to UI, by modification in the code. Now iOS app developers are able to see real-time previews of how the user interface would look and behave at the time of assembling, testing and refining their code. The necessary collaboration between UI designers and software developers and UI development become more productive due to a seamless move between writing code and graphical design. It accentuates the objectivity of new announcements at WWDC for iPhone app development company by allowing them to see by previews, which directly run on connected Apple devices, that how the app works with onboard sensors and the camera, and the response to Multi-Touch™. It supports on-device debugging for tvOS 9 and later, watchOS 2 and later and iOS 8 and later.

iPad Apps to Mac

An introduction of new API’s and tools make it easy to bring iPas applications to Mac. It invariably offers an iOS app developer to use Xcode, which enables developers to open an active or existing iPad project. The developers can add windowing features and fundamental Mac by a simple check to a box. Additionally, It saves developers valuable time by sharing a similar project and their source code which translates any changes in code to both the macOS and iPadOS versions. Users are offered each platform’s unique capabilities like speed and precision while using Mac’s mouse, keyboard, features like Touch Bar™ and trackpad.

Augmented Reality

At WWDC, Apple unveiled the next generation ARKit, which came up with some new features like motion capture, people occlusion, simultaneous front and back camera use, multiple face tracking and more. Motion capture enables developers to use captured peoples’ movements in real time as an input for AR experiences. In other words, ARKit provides a new framework to allow developers to create AR applications on iOS more easily. However, the augmented reality app quality depends on the details of the device’s physical environment. On the other hand, through People occlusion, it becomes so opportunistic for every iPhone app development company with a simplified process to mix virtual object and people and an immersive AR experience with green screen style effects for users. Furthermore, now iOS users can experience simultaneous use the front and back camera and with collaborative sessions makes it faster to build a collaborative world map with shared AR experience among multiple people.

Core ML and Create ML

Applications can easily deliver an incredible and astonishing experience that intensely understand speech, natural vision and natural language using CoreML3 which supports advanced real-time machine learning models. Evidentially, with this outspoken technique custom iPhone app development becomes possible without compromising the privacy of users. Now developers are not reluctant to offer personalized features and update machine learning model. Apple Create ML is a suite of machine learning products that use tools such as the Swift programming language and the macOS playground to create and train custom machine learning models on Mac computers. Create ML, developers need not write code for building machine learning models by Xcode and Swift.

Apple Watch

With the rhetorical introduction of Apple watch OS 6 and iOS app store on it, offered an opportunity for the developers to build apps that independently works on apple each without an iPhone. It ensured an opportunity for highly consolidated performance through undoubted decision to hire iPhone developer who enjoys the benefit of the Apple neural engine on series 4 apple watches using Core ML. Now users are able to stream their best-loved third-party media applications even with Apple watch due to new dedicated streaming audio API. While the applications are still in the foreground, additional time is given by an extended runtime API to accomplish tasks on their apple watch.

Fast, Easy and Private Sign in Using Apple ID

One additional and a foremost announcement during WWDC 2019 was about easy sign in to websites and app using their Apple ID. Now Instead of verifying an email address or choosing a password, filling out the information form, iOS users can use their Apple ID for setting up an account and use of an app with less user’s time engagement. Due to the unidentified security threats, a major challenge, mobile app development solutions embraced potential safeguards. So with no exception, all iOS users’ protection is assured through the two-factor authentication and anti-fraud which regenerates a great way to improve app’s .security. The users would receive necessary messages even without disclosing their email address through newly introduced privacy-focused email service.

Apple unveils groundbreaking new technologies for app development

Xcode 11 Brings SwiftUI to Life

A new graphical UI design tool built into Xcode 11 makes it easy for UI designers to quickly assemble a user interface with SwiftUI — without having to write any code. Swift code is automatically generated and when this code is modified, the changes to the UI instantly appear in the visual design tool. Now developers can see automatic, real-time previews of how the UI will look and behave as they assemble, test and refine their code. The ability to fluidly move between graphical design and writing code makes UI development more fun and efficient and makes it possible for software developers and UI designers to collaborate more closely. Previews can run directly on connected Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple Watch and Apple TV, allowing developers to see how an app responds to Multi-Touch, or works with the camera and on-board sensors — live, as the interface is being built.

Augmented Reality

ARKit 3 puts people at the center of AR. With Motion Capture, developers can integrate people’s movement into their app, and with People Occlusion, AR content will show up naturally in front of or behind people to enable more immersive AR experiences and fun green screen-like applications. ARKit 3 also enables the front camera to track up to three faces, as well as simultaneous front and back camera support. It also enables collaborative sessions, which make it even faster to jump into a shared AR experience.

Get Bitcoin on your smartwatch with this Lightning Network app

Smartwatch users can now receive bitcoin lightning payments in seconds thanks to the new BlueWallet app.

Developed by BlueWallet, the app allows users to generate a QR code on their watch which someone else can scan with their smartphone to quickly send them payment over the Lightning Network, all with a few quick taps on their smartwatch.

In an interview with CryptoSlate, Nuno Coelho, product and user experience engineer, said the Lightning Network is encouraging developers to come up with innovative products and platforms that would aid the adoption of digital assets such as bitcoin. He said:

“We were not happy with the current status of the wallet market, in particular, the wallet we were using at the time. So we decided to team up on this effort and build the solution we wanted to have.”

While the BlueWallet app is currently in the experimental stages, feedback so far has been positive.

Twitter user JPThor said:

Nuno said BlueWallet and other applications being developed on Lightning Network such as Tippin.me (an app that lets you send Lightning Network payments across Twitter in seconds) would help drive the mass adoption of cryptocurrencies.

How does BlueWallet work?

A: BlueWallet is a mobile app available for iOS and Android. It works by providing users with an interface to interact with the bitcoin and Lightning Network. It supports different types of wallets for different needs and uses cases, and some features, like the possibility to have flexible fees or full-encryption to make user usage more secure and the experience with bitcoin smoother.

What are the next steps for the product?

A: We will be focused on improving our on chain reliability and experience. At the end of the day, onchain is and will be the most important layer that can’t be dismissed or ignored. Users can expect bech32 native addresses, multisig and batch transaction and the ability to connect their own full nodes to the wallet.

What was the idea that kicked Bluewallet into life?

A: We were not happy with the current status of the wallet market, in particular, the wallet we were using at the time. So we decided to team up on this effort and build the solution we wanted to have.

What is next for the Lightning Network?

A: Lightning is just impressive from an engineering point-of-view and exciting from a “bootstrapping a network” point-of-view. The growth we have seen in one year, it’s something you don’t see many times on your lifetime. In terms of development, every single feature, optimization, and improvement are just gifts that we as a community will take care and make sure they get out there.

How close is crypto and the Lightning Network to becoming a mainstream payment method?

A: I think it is the kind of area where we will never be ready, but when we realize it will be everywhere and everyone will be using it. It’s just inevitable, it is a fascinating technological breakthrough that we can’t stop, avoid, or ignore.

BlueWallet is available now on Apple’s App Store and the Android Store. You can find out more about BlueWallet here.

Google Play Store gives ‘star-stuck’ app ratings a nudge

Changes are afoot for the Google Play Store that should make the app repository a more informative place for both regular people and developers. Google debuted new behaviors for various aspects of the Play Store at its Google I/O developer conference this week.

Here’s what’s on deck and what it means for you.

A star is reborn

App ratings are a vital metric that Android users rely on day in and day out to inform their downloading decisions. Does the app score three stars? Four? What’s your threshold, particularly if the app costs real money?

An issue faced by users and developers alike is that the current star ratings for apps are cumulative. That means if the version 1.0 build of any given app was garbage and scored one million one-star votes, those votes will still impact the app’s overall score years later — even after the app reaches version 20.0 and is flawless. This is about to change.

Google says beginning later this year, app ratings will be weighted to reflect the most current version of the app. Developers can see the new rating via the Google Play Console starting immediately, though end users won’t see the new system until August.

Suggested replies

Any avid Android user has likely taken advantage of suggested replies in Gmail or Android Messages. “You bet!” Thanks!” “I’ll call you later.” Now, developers will be able to send generic responses directly to app reviewers. But don’t get offended.

Rather than offer developers an automated and impersonal way out of interacting with users, the idea is to push developers to respond at all. Google says developers will see three suggested replies to any given bit of user feedback. These replies will be created automatically based on the content of the review. Developers can choose to send one as-is, augment one, or write their own.

This tool is available in English to start with, and other languages will be added in subsequent versions. Google claims reviewers who receive feedback from developers are apt to improve their rating by an average of 0.7 stars.

Fine-tuned landings

Developers’ Google Play Store listings are their home, their castle. They are the central spot where developers can entice Play Store users to download their app. The message matters, and that’s why Google is giving developers more control over this vital space.

Google says app writers will soon be able to create custom listings for apps based on install date or status of the viewer. For example, developers can send surfers to alternate versions of the storefront depending on whether or not they’ve installed the app. These alternate storefronts can offer customized marketing messages tailored to score downloads or re-downloads.

Updates get pushy

Developers and users alike can already take advantage of automatic app updates. The Play Store will signal phones when new app versions are available, and then download them in the background. This is effective, but not effective enough, according to developer feedback.

The new in-app updates API makes it possible for applications to update mid-use. This API has been in testing for several months and Google says developers have created smooth processes for upgrading apps while in use. This improves the overall acceptance rate of app updates by a respectable percentage. The API has reached general availability, so expect to see this in the real world before too long.

In-App Updates for Google Play Store

Stats for nerds

Developers gain some hardcore nerdy stuff to get excited about, starting with the “bundle” of joy.

A photo of Google Play's version number

Android App Bundles are party to some enhancements. Bundles are a way of delivering apps in smaller packages. Now developers can set more parameters for controlling when and how the bundles are sent to phones over the air.

Sharing apps internally is now more seamless, according to Google. Google smoothed over the process of testing new builds to trusted reviewers without the messy overhead of version codes, signing keys, or other validations.

Last, the Google Play Console Data now offers more information at a glance, allowing developers to better ascertain the stats of their apps.

While some of these changes are developer-facing only, others will soon become part of the everyday Google Play Store experience.

iTunes social media blackout hints at app break-up at WWDC

Apple may have confirmed the breakup of iTunes into a collection of separate apps is in the works, by taking time in the days before WWDC to remove content from view on the main social media accounts associated with iTunes.

Rumors and leaks have hinted at Apple splitting apart its long-standing iTunes app into multiple separate elements, but outside of data mining finding evidence, there have been relatively few clues from Apple itself. Ahead of the WWDC keynote on Monday, Apple seems to have let slip something in its renovation.

As spotted on the Apple subreddit by u/MalteseAppleFan, posts on some of Apple’s social media pages for iTunes have started to disappear. While the post says “all” posts have gone, this is not quite true, but the changes strongly suggest some major renovations to its social media strategy are on the way.

The Facebook and Instagram pages for iTunes no longer include any posts for the service or its content at all. While basic social media images, like the profile logo and headers, exist, the Instagram profile also points users towards the AppleTV account for “more entertainment updates.”

The official iTunes Twitter account is in a mixed state, as it bears the same profile photo and header as the Facebook account, but it still has many posts. The last post made on the account was on May 22, but it has retweeted a few messages from the AppleTV account.

Apple is currently believed to be separating out its Music and Podcasts elements from iTunes on macOS, with an app for TV also touted, taking them out of the all-in-one iTunes app completely.

AppleInsider will be reporting live throughout WWDC 2019, starting with the keynote on Monday, June 3. Get every announcement as it happens by downloading the AppleInsider app for iOS, and by making sure to follow us on YouTube, Twitter @appleinsider, Facebook and Instagram.
