Alula’s Dealer DIY offering allows its partners to easily offer a DIY solution that is fully supported and backed by a professional, local dealer.
ISC West 2019 will be held April 9-12 at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas.
Ahead of this year’s show, SSI spoke with Alula CEO Brian McLaughlin to find out what the company will be showcasing at ISC West.
What is the top product or offering your company is showing off at ISCW this year, and what makes it unique or special?
We are debuting our BAT-Connect Communicator, the ultimate alarm system takeover device. With the BAT-Connect, security and automation partners can easily upgrade millions of legacy alarm systems to add video and automation while delivering an app-driven mobile experience. BAT-Connect joins the most advanced communicator in the market with the full suite of applications within the Alula Platform giving the end user one, unified experience.
What other products or offerings would you like to highlight, and what are some of their unique qualities?
We will also offer a sneak peek at Alula Connect, our new portal for security and automation professionals. The rebranded and upgraded portal offers a simplified, modernized user experience, creating consistency between the popular Alula mobile app and the platform experience.
What else is new or noteworthy about the company for 2019?
In February, we moved our headquarters and production center from Hudson, Wis., to St. Paul, Minn., giving us the space needed to expand our operations. For the remainder of the year, we will continue to build out our workforce and maintain steady growth while launching new products and services to make life easier for our security professional partners.
We have also made great strides on our Dealer DIY offering, which allows our partners to easily offer a DIY solution that is fully supported and backed by a professional, local dealer. We now offer extensive marketing and support tools and an easy-to-self-install solution that is focused on giving our partners a fighting chance against the large DIY companies.
What is your company’s overall value proposition to installing security dealers/integrators? Why should they do business with you?
Alula is the first vertically integrated security platform company that is 100% partner focused. From sensors to hubs to applications and networks, we offer a complete, end-to-end solution providing security, automation, and video on a lightning-fast, purpose-built network. That gives you one accountable partner bringing you the full solution and the ability to innovate faster.
What do you see as some of the top opportunities in the marketplace right now?
Our industry will change more in the next 24 months than it has in the entire previous decade. All the projections say market adoption is going to double in the next five years. With the convergence of security and home automation and increasing consumer awareness around these technologies, the opportunities for growth are massive.
Our dealer partners are facing new forms of competition from DIY companies and many others. We must give them the technology platform tools and models to compete with these emerging forces out there. At the same time, our platform can easily plug-in to enable home security and automation for utilities, MSOs, aging-in-place companies, builders and many other emerging categories.
